As an educator, Alejandra works for a wide variety of institutions teaching photography courses and facilitating participatory workshops. She has extensive experience facilitating socially-engaged creative workshops for groups from diverse backgrounds, ranging in age, ethnicity, and needs. She collaborates regularly with art institutions and charities designing programmes that use art as a tool to connect people and develop self-confidence skills, and has a strong commitment to participatory arts as a platform for groups and individuals to thrive.
Since 2015, she leads a weekly photography group at the Helen Bamber Foundation for vulnerable adults from asylum seeking and refugee backgrounds. Together with this group she has curated events and exhibitions at the Migration Museum, Autograph Gallery and UCL. She is also regularly commissioned by Create Charity to run creative workshops for young and adult carers, older groups at risk of isolation, and groups struggling with mental health. With them she has ran over 300 socially-engaged projects in the UK. Other regular clients for whom she has designed and facilitated workshops include Photoworks, Alexandra Palace, WOW Foundation, The Photographer's Gallery, Spotlight Youth, Photoworks, Age UK, Mind Charity, Deptford Reach, Salusbury World and St George's Aquarium Ward, among others.
